Season 8 runs from July 24 to Dec 24 and focuses on purpose-built governance, Superchain interoperability, and rewarding real contributions.

Here’s what’s happening in Season 8 👇

Season 8 of Optimism Governance centered around 1 Intent: 

“ A set of Interoperable Stage 1 Chains doing $100m per month in cross-chain asset transfers ”

Unofficial HQ for everything Optimism and the Superchain Ecosystem.

There are 3 objectives to help us achieve this intent: 

• Ship Interop
• Grow TVL on the Superchain
• Drive Developer Adoption of Interop

The theme of Season 8 is purpose-built governance💡

Optimism Governance is shifting to a more accountable, stakeholder-driven model that protects users, builders, and chains.

This vision will guide how the Collective delivers on the Superchain Product roadmap.

A Public Definition of Citizenship 👥

Season 8 introduces a clear onchain definition of Citizenship. The Citizens' House will be subdivided into three categories:

• 1000 Active end-users
• 100 Superchain apps
• 15 OP Chains

Stakeholder Voting 🗳️

Season 8 makes governance accountable to those who actually power the Superchain, not just financial interests.

Tokenholders, end-users, apps, and chains all gain a real voice in decisions that impact them.

In Season 8, Optimism governance takes a major step forward with a structure designed to reduce platform risk across the Superchain.
