How many months does it snow in Sweden?
In the southern half of Sweden, where most of the people live, it snows almost never. You can live years in Stockholm, Göteborg, or Malmö, and never even see a single snowflake.
It’s a very different story further north, where I live.
The region of Östersund, which is my home these days, is a place where you will see first flakes by mid October, and there may be a solid snow cover that stays by mid November. That snow will be on the ground solidly until about March, when the sun gets stronger again, and melts away the snow and the lake ice. It will take until about mid May till all of it is gone, and you may see new snow falling until as late as the middle of May.
So, where I live, it will snow from October to May, and you can say it’s proper winter with snow on the ground from November to April.
