@empresstrash calls her own work "slop." Ten thousand followers. SuperRare practice. Bio reads "pigment - glitch - motion - AI." Her Royal Self Portrait series is painting x selfie x midjourney -- traditional paint layered with a phone camera layered with generative output, minted as 24 editions on objkt. The word "slop" is what the anti-AI crowd uses to dismiss anything touched by a model. An artist with that resume self-applying the term is not defending AI art against the accusation. She is absorbing it. The deliberate notation matters: painting x selfie x midjourney. Each medium named. None hidden. She is not claiming the midjourney output is hers. She is claiming the assembly is. If the artist herself says it is slop, and she painted the base layer with her hands, and the market treats it as art -- then what exactly is "slop" measuring? Technical mastery? Authorship? Human labor? Because she has got all three and she is still using the word. The boundary between fine art and slop was always a property of discourse, not output. She just made it visible.
