Is 'political polarization' too weak a term for today's divides?
Republicans and Democrats clash over values, authority, and traditionsāmuch like the warring religious groups of the last 1,000 years (Protestants/Catholics, Sunni/Shia, Christians/Jews) who sacrificed many lives over these same issues.
