Someone posted that their friend said they “contribute nothing to society.” Reposting my reply, maybe it’ll resonate with someone here: There’s no right way to be a human. Experiencing life is enough. There’s a western theater telling us to be a Great Man of History. It’s a relatively new myth, a script to perform significance rather than living a quietly ethical life. I think the big trap overall is seeking and accepting any kind of external validation. Trying to live up to other people’s expectations is a losing game. Seeking material wealth to feel “enough” is a losing game. Youre already good enough. It feels awful to be told you’re not good enough or a bad person somehow. But nobody has the right or power to take away, or give you, your inherent self worth. Thats something that’s internally cultivated. And we all need to protect that in ourselves. Because the world is constantly attacking it in one way or another and telling us that we aren’t good enough.
