The worst time to think of great ideas? When you're trying to think of great ideas.
Let’s be honest:
Staring at a screen, doomscrolling articles, or “thinking harder” almost never gets me anywhere new.
My secret? I let go.
My best ideas show up when I least expect them—mid-workout, in the shower, cruising on my bike, or even while I’m half asleep.
Sounds backwards, right?
But here’s what’s wild:
The more I force my brain to “be creative,” the less it delivers.
When I set the goal, step back, and let it marinate in my subconscious, ideas take on a life of their own.
This isn’t a one-off.
Whenever I hit a wall, I don’t grind—I move.
A quick walk, a bike ride, any change of scenery.
Doesn’t have to be fancy. Just get away from work mode.
When my body relaxes, my mind sparks.
That’s when the ideas sneak in—uninvited, and better than anything I could chase down at my desk.
That’s my playbook.
Now I’m curious—where do your best ideas find you?
