And the sad truth is: communities are letting them. From Builders to Opportunists Many developers no longer build for the long-term. Instead, they exploit the hype cycle—launching anonymous projects with flashy branding, vague promises, and no real commitment to deliver. Once the tokens are sold or NFTs minted, they disappear or under-deliver, leaving the community holding the bag.

Farcaster’s Potential Is Clear, But the Present Reality Can’t Be Ignored At this stage, platforms like @X currently offer stronger earning opportunities compared to Farcaster. The monetization infrastructure is more mature, and despite all the excitement around decentralization and onchain social, the revenue stream on Farcaster remains limited, for now. Yes, Farcaster is in its infancy. That’s a fact. But in a time where content and attention are being monetized across multiple platforms, very few want to stand idle. Knowing your edge matters, and chasing momentum without substance is a sure way to burn out. Community plays a central role in this ecosystem. Without a truly engaged and valued user base, there’s no real foundation for user enthusiasm, and certainly not for long-term growth.

Yo.... You gotta be a Dev, a loud voice or some cross social media influencer to earn on Farcaster. It's not for everyone, you all have to start accepting that already. The ground has shifted from the generics to an absolute social value return. Be at the top, earn and leave low value hanging.

Communities Have Become Enablers But developers aren't the only ones to blame. Communities have played their part in this problem. Users keep aping into projects without doing any research. They ignore obvious red flags, defend anonymous teams, and choose hype over substance. They reward devs with engagement and money—even when the fundamentals are missing. This behavior tells bad actors one thing: you can get away with anything as long as it pumps.

Too often, new tokens are created just to make money, not to solve problems. This leads to projects that take advantage of people instead of helping them. It damages trust and makes the entire crypto space look like a playground for exploitation. Going forward, the focus should be on using blockchain technology to fix real problems in real sectors — things like transparent supply chains, fair governance, secure digital identity, and access to financial tools. Crypto should be about solving problems, not just creating hype. We need to move from speculation to substance. That’s the only way this space will grow in a healthy, sustainable way.
