Whether you call them L1s or L2s doesn’t really matter — it feels like these “top-tier chain” narratives have been fading ever since $ARB. From $ZK to $STARK, to the long-criticized $LINEA, and now the underperforming $MON…once the token launches, user activity collapses and the chain turns into a ghost town. All that “god-tier” fundraising looks like a joke in hindsight. Among the chains that haven’t launched a token yet, I’m actually most bullish on $BASE. Even without a token, BASE still has real ecosystem activity and strong user recognition. When someone says “send me USDC on Base,” it doesn’t feel weird —you don’t instinctively think, “Wait, people still use that chain?” That’s what BASE is doing right. As for most of the other chains…they’re probably just hype — and a big pile of nothing.
