FREEDOM!
I am Srivatsan Sankaran, and my journey as a deaf person has been one of profound transformation. For years, I felt like I was living in a world that didn’t quite understand me. I remember a moment in school when I stood on the sidelines during a group project, feeling invisible as my classmates chatted and laughed. It was in that moment of isolation that I realized I had to change my relationship with myself.
Accepting my deafness was not an easy path. It meant facing my fears and the stigma that often accompanied my identity. But as I began to embrace who I am, I discovered a sense of freedom that was exhilarating. I learned to let go of the pressures to conform and to celebrate my unique perspective. (1/3)
