A polar bear cub hugs its mother. The cub sat in this position all day and night, crying and refusing to eat. The bear was killed by Norwegian sailors while fishing. The photograph was taken by photographer Lennart Nilsson in Svalbard and was one of his first photographs for a published article entitled "Polar Bear Hunting", 1947.
