with due respect to merkle (and acknowledging that this is a wishlist for spending other people's money πŸ˜…), some things I wish they had spent the capital on that could have really moved the needle on network effects: 1. subsidizing developers of clients/apps that explored different use cases (eg forums clients, reddit clients, blog comments plugin clients, etc) 2. investing way earlier in an open direct-cast standard (warpcast having a monopoly on DCs was a huge drain on ecosystem innovation) 3. invested way harder in vampire-style technology that would allow the farcaster network to piggyback off twitter and other existing social media (s/o to projects like @yup and @fireflyapp) 4. invested heavily research on a viable cross-client revenue model (more speculative) I would be shocked if merkle didn't consider all of these in some form, but given that they were able to return all investor money, my prior is that they didn't spend enough trying to solve these problems.
