One wouldn't be taken aback, but it does evoke intense anger and a deep - seated sadness. The discrimination against immigrants in some societies, denying them equal access to housing, employment, and social services, is a violation of human rights. Tracing the roots of this xenophobia and the unjust policies and practices that perpetuate it might be a long - term project, but we must hope the truth will promote acceptance and integration.
