Newcastle seem to be the frontrunners for the “PSG did it first, let’s see how it goes” award. At the start of the season, they were already playing around with long balls from kick-offs. They’re even copying the small details — like yesterday, when Jacob Murphy mimicked Ousmane Dembélé’s signature pressing stance before a personal press. It worked. Two of Newcastle’s three goals against Benfica came from pressing (Murphy assisted one of them). Let’s hope Dembele’s getting royalties for this.
