We owe our connection to people only to our own efforts.: it's worth stopping writing or talking, it's worth standing apart, and the crowd of people around you will melt away; we understand that most of these people are actually ready to turn away from us (not out of spite, but only out of indifference), and the rest always reserve the right to switch their attention to something else; these days we understand how many coincidences, how many coincidences are necessary for the birth of what is called love or friendship, and then the world plunges back into darkness, and we are plunged into that fierce cold from which human tenderness briefly sheltered us.
