A couple of interesting ideas that came up in a recent conversation with Shiqi in Shanghai, where we were trading thoughts and sharing our anxieties—thought I’d share them here:
1. Only poor people’s money is truly scarce.
— Sounds obvious, almost like a cliché. But if you think about it, it means that using money to “vote” on information might better reflect reality—and it also makes that reality easier to manipulate.
2. Before a productivity revolution hits its singularity, any shift in production relations is basically invisible.
— For example, people won’t care about “unauthorized data scraping” until AI actually starts replacing them and making real money. That’s when it hits home—because suddenly, it’s about how much they get paid.
