Hard truth: decentralized social probably doesn’t “beat X” head-on.
Farcaster seems to be leaning into a different game after years of trying to be the “decentralized X”: build a crypto wallet first, then let the social layer be what you discover once you’re already using the tool.
“Come for the tool, stay for the network” makes sense. People don’t download apps because they want *another* timeline. They download because they need to manage assets. If the wallet is genuinely great, community becomes a bonus not the pitch.
Base App is proving this approach can work.
