Thought: "slop" is an infohazard Calling things slop makes you feel useful/insightful, as though you can signal that you have taste, that you're advanced enough to discern what's slop and what isn't, and that you're differentiated from those who are producing it. It also enables you to be lazy in criticism bc you place more value in the act of criticism in and of itself rather than what purpose the criticism achieves, so you just default call "slop" on any content/media/product that you don't respect
