A bit worse are April and May. The snow is gone, but there is nothing green out there yet. Just lots and lots of winter gravel and road dust as the ice on the lakes is slowly melting. You’re gagging for greenery and sun rays on your skin and vitamin D, and you look pale as a milk toast from being indoors for half a year. This is the time of year when my retirement years will hopefully see me further south every year:

What's the ugliest season or part of a season of the year where you live? Personally, I don’t really know what to do with the first half of November, when all the leaves are gone and there is no snow yet. Luckily, that’s only about two weeks, which can be spent staying indoors with candle light, ignoring the outdoors. Looks like this:
