Would Mount Everest still be hard to climb if there wasn't ice? The only technical climbing bit is the kumba ice fall and its not technically difficult except the Hillary step near the top.. it's the altitude that makes it very hard as you take 10 small steps and it's like you have run a marathon. You want to move but you just dont physically have the energy and you just want to stop and lie down. Your oxygen in your blood is less than 20% and really your body is shutting down. You feel constantly breathless and it's freezing cold, you feel sick and lack of oxygen to your brain makes you feel delusional. You hullicinate as your mind plays tricks on you and your short term memory is shut down so you can't remember even the simple things and having a conversation is hard as you can't remember the words you are looking for or what was just said. When you fall to sleep your body goes into sleep mode and shallow breathing so you wake up in the night gasping for air..
