This is quite a surprise! I appreciate the discussion over this particular piece! As with so many of my self portraits, the intention when making it was very specific, but I always hope the themes are universal enough for anyone to find a connection. There’s not a wrong answer here.
As an artist, particularly one who does self portraiture, putting yourself on display requires a good amount of courage and the ability to self deprecate. I put my image and art out in the world for consumption. Taking a bit of myself and handing it over to the viewer. 💐
