Insane pressure would be gone. That is true. The water is gone, so the weight is gone. A man could stand at the bottom. The air would be thick but clean enough to breathe for a while. That would be the trick. You could walk down into the big crack in the earth. It would be dark. And it would get hot. Not warm. Hot. The floor of that trench is close to the planet’s molten guts. The rock itself would be hundreds of degrees-Three hundred Celsius is a good guess. It would be a dry oven, seven miles down. You would not be crushed. You would be cooked. The air would scorch your lungs. Your boots would melt and then your feet. It is not a place for a man, water or no water. A bad place is a bad place.
