Before the descent there’s this pause.
Skis resting Breath visible
A mountain standing still enough to make everything else feel quieter
The village below shrinks worries follow.
This is the in between moment
not the climb not the rush
just cold air blue light and the kind of silence
that asks you to trust gravity and yourself.
Soon the edges will bite
speed will take over
and thought will disappear.
But right here
looking out over all of it
everything feels perfectly balanced.
