Prometheus The Theft of Fire Prometheus was a Titan known for his intelligence and sympathy toward humanity. Unlike other gods, he cared deeply for mortals and sought to protect them from Zeus’ harsh rule. When Zeus denied humans the use of fire, leaving them weak and helpless, Prometheus defied the king of the gods and stole fire from Olympus, hiding it in a hollow reed and delivering it to mankind. Prometheus was chained to a remote mountain, where an eagle was sent each day to devour his liver, only for it to regenerate each night, condemning him to endless torment.
