InfoFi is doing to content what Quests did to user acquisition.
New revenue streams & access to rewards for smaller accounts (...?).
More cost-effective for projects vs. hiring in-house or working with KOLs.
Interest alignment — not much, if at all.
Will the yaps/snaps/quacks continue when the leaderboard-based rewards end? Will they stay post-TGE or flock away, like airdrop farmers?
Uneasy questions. But make-or-break for projects.
Two things happen when you fill up your community with questers:
a. They're constantly asking for more rewards, more dopamine hits. It's like emotionally-devoid relationships built solely on sex — no body, no love.
b. Engagement (the bullish vibe) drops when you stop giving out cash. FUD takes over, even when you're trying to do everything right.
Financial incentives = a slippery slope. Especially in the hyper-speculative phase crypto is currently in.
Projects need to constantly reward-bait for mindshare & engagement. This can't be sustainable long-term.
Solution?
Use Quests, but also build a genuinely based community around real value, not just rewards.
Leverage InfoFi, but also build a robust mindshare flywheel. Create content that sticks. Plant a mind-virus. Make your positioning click. Tell your story.
There are NO shortcuts.
Give them money, they'll come. Give them value, they'll stay. Choose. 1 reply
