This is the world's largest quartz cluster, it was discovered in 1985 at the bottom of a 45 metre deep cave in the Otjua mine near Karibib in Namibia. It weighs 14,100 kg and took three years to excavate and remove.

However, most meteors and meteorites don’t come from directly above. Instead they brush the atmosphere and go into a slow altitude decline as they slow down. The one above, recently seen in Russia, mostly broke into pieces before it hit the ground, but some of those pieces have now been recovered.

And it left no crater. That’s perfectly plausible. A lot of it is due to what direction it travelled in Earth’s atmosphere. A meteorite that comes almost directly from above will leave a crater.
