URGENT!!!!!!!
I’m so sorry to make this post today, and in this way, but it’s urgent. We are looking for Aminocaproic Acid (tablet form) for dogs. If you know anyone in the Denver or greater Colorado area who can help us get this immediately, please send us a DM.
We’ve called every animal hospital and pharmacy we can find since Wednesday, but no one carries the tablet version. Thankfully, we did find it online through Chewy — but the order is still waiting for approval from the emergency hospital/oncologist who wrote the prescription, and once it’s finally approved, it will take several days to arrive… likely longer with the holiday. We can’t wait that long.
On Wednesday, during Graffiti’s routine X-rays, they found a baseball-sized tumor in his abdomen. We went straight to an oncologist, who confirmed it has already spread to his lungs, consistent with hemangiosarcoma, an extremely aggressive cancer of the blood vessels. There is no treatment option at this stage.
Right now, Graffiti is stable, comfortable, and acting like his normal happy self, and we want to keep it that way for as long as possible. Aminocaproic Acid doesn’t stop a bleed from starting, but it helps stabilize blood clots if a bleed begins — and that can help extend the time we have left with him. It also works best when it’s given consistently, because its protective effect builds over time, helping his body be better prepared if a micro-bleed happens.
Thank you so much for reading this and for any help you can offer. We’re so sorry to share something so heavy in this way, but we’ve exhausted every option we know of — and we know you all would want us to do everything we can to help him stay with us for as long as possible. We’re simply trying to give him the best care and the most time we can, and we’re so grateful for any help.
