The Australian Dollar climbed toward 0.6740 intraday, supported by risk-on sentiment in commodities and growing expectations that the Reserve Bank of Australia may keep monetary policy tighter for longer if inflation proves sticky. That backdrop has lifted the Aussie with markets now squarely focused on tonight's Australian CP| release, which is widely expected to show inflation moderating slightly but still above the RBA's target band, reinforcing the case for a hawkish policy stance.

@sharondacarver The AUD/USD advance is now attempting to breach resistance at the 78.6% retracement of the 2024 decline at 6723. Note that the median-line of the 2025 pitchfork is just higher and the focus is on the weekly close with respect to this slope. Also keep in mind that weekly momentum is now approaching the 2025 extremes with RSI extending into the highest levels seen since September, right before AUD/USD corrected more than 4.2%- keep an eye on this.

The yen rallied as geopolitical tensions from South America to China took centre stage while investors awaited data in the United States for clues about the timing of potential interest rate cuts by the Federal Reserve. "The most likely outcome is a boost to the global economy because of that oil," Michael McCarthy, CEO of investment platform Moomoo Australia and New Zealand, said about the upheaval in Venezuela. "Clearly it's a negative for the oil price itself, but energy costs are key to your global economic outlook."
