I've been working on this essay off and on for a while. I think it's such a foundational question - what are people? I'm sharing two images to show the continuity between these projects, but this is kind of how it works - you ask what you are and the answers aren't really forthcoming. Are people just biological? Doesn't that mean reducing us to physics should be implied? Are people being serious about having a soul? If they are - what's that, just a ghost or - ??

So - cyborg warhol was a project where I saw what andy warhol did with Amiga graphics - and I wrote a script in processing to generate shapes and lines and patterns with random colors and rigged it to export to frames so I could compose video GIFs with it. It was before AI so it took me a long time because I'm an idiot. It's fascinating too that there's a funny interview segment with a robotic andy warhol where he actually talks about wanting to be made into a robot, so I didn't feel like it was even a violation of the spirit of his art. I made like 6 designs with this and sold them on KnownOrigin before it was bought by eBay. “I want to be a machine, and I feel that whatever I do and do machine-like is what I want do to.
