Sometimes your illness or chronic condition ends up defining your future even your career.
I didn’t know that when Martin Scorsese was a kid he suffered from asthma which got much worse during the summer heat.
The only places with air conditioning back then were movie theaters: the only spaces where Marty could breathe. His life literally depended on watching movies
So he spent entire days at the cinema with his father watching every single film that came out. That became his film school.
There was so much cinema in his childhood that it simply shaped his destiny.
Highly recommend the documentary “Mr. Scorsese” on AppleTV+
