The latter will pay a $4.47 billion fine to settle the case. The firm's former CEO Do Kwon, who is also a defendant in the SEC suit, must in turn repay more than $204 million.

The SEC has closed its investigation into Ethereum Consensys, the developer of the MetaMask wallet, has announced that the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has closed its investigation into Ethereum. "We have been notified by the SEC that they have closed their investigation into Ethereum 2.0. This means that the Commission will not pursue charges of unregistered sales of securities," the statement reads.
