I've always felt there's a chasm between HN culture (more about the tech) and YC founder culture (aiming for building something *a lot* of people want). There's a good middle ground. Sometimes I feel there's a lot of cynicism on FC about things that normal consumers want but don't align with more technical values. Right-curving it, if you will. Reminds me of the classic HN comment on Dropbox. HN reply guy was technically right. Drew Houston was also right and proof is in the pudding. The proposed fork feels like it may be the end of both cultures co-existing in one place.
