The XB‑70 Valkyrie was a high-speed (Mach 3), high-altitude experimental bomber. Its technical performance was excellent (powerful engines, special wings for “compression lift”), but the program was canceled for strategic and budget reasons. It provided valuable data for later designs like the SR‑71 and B‑1 — technically successful but tactically vulnerable.
