Investing is a highly-addictive video game… the goal = converting alpha into cash. Markets are the final boss (always flashing your score in a pretty little chart). In-game returns are correlated with: 1 - knowledge 2 - discipline 3 - a lil luck Knowledge is the easiest part of the equation to control. So every moment you’re not learning feels like backsliding/losing to the final boss. Over a long time horizon, it has this weird effect of warping your worldview. You don’t live in the now so much as the now's second- and third-order impacts on the markets. You live inside simulations of what hasn’t happened yet. And the present fades to gray.
