@saratov Chapter 2: Likes vs. Reposts - What Actually Drives Your Audience As promised, I'm continuing my guide on how to become a successful caster on Base. Today, let’s break down the main engine of growth: the difference between a like and a repost. A like is a sign of attention, but little more. Essentially, it’s a mark that says “post seen.” Its main value is as proof that your thought was noticed. Unfortunately, for the algorithm and for reach, a like holds minimal weight. A repost is your tool for scaling. When someone reposts you, your content is duplicated into the feed of all their followers. The larger their audience, the wider the wave that reaches new people. This is the most valuable action on the network. My golden rule: always return the favor on a repost. If someone shares your thought, support them back with your attention. This is the foundation of a healthy community, and I strongly advise you to do the same. But there’s a “royal repost” feature: quoting. True, not many use it because it requires more effort - you don’t just hit a button, you add your own thought, question, or take. However, quoting provides a “first-class boost.” It doesn’t just move your post; it increases its weight in the eyes of the algorithm and, more importantly, adds social capital and context. If you really want to support someone and stand out - quote them. It’s a signal of maximum respect and engagement. In summary: · A Like = "saw it." · A Repost = "recommending it." · A Quote = "recommending it and adding my perspective." Focus on reposts and quotes - they build your network of influence.
