JWST, being 1.5 million kilometers away from Earth, has a better vantage point (like how a person standing 500 meters ahead of you would see something sooner than you would if you were standing a kilometer away). Viewing the Sun has a shorter time lag, but there are stars in space whose light takes over a hundred years to reach us. As an astrologer, I understand this well, as my calculations of celestial bodies are similar to those made by NASA, although our fields and subjects differ.
