My conjecture: Centrists and Dems love her. Many center-rights like her more than the Rep choices. Progressives don't want MAGA, even if it means her. And she has had some unbelievably bad opponents over the years. Also - she has had a few prominent national news cycles of her saying something snarky in a senate hearing, etc., and people that don't pay that much attention assume she is a "fighter."
