Not disqualifying by any means, lots of great Americans who were naturalized later in life but you need to leave all that behind and serve American interests, not Somalian or anybody else. I don’t really see any affection for the United States in anything she’s ever said or done

The United States (and parts of the west in general) has a significant problem in balancing how to be a “new” nation not based in any one specific nationality but also maintaining national cohesion.

I, like most Americans, think we should be scouting people all over the world to come here, but I, like most Americans, think we need to get people who want to become fully American and have no foreign allegiance, extractive motivation, or antipathy to America

this is the most interesting part of modern life to me. the both of you have to figure out how to share a country regardless.
