Figuring out AI so you don’t have to. Expect messy thoughts, bad takes, and the occasional useful insight

Prompting AI is an art, not a science. People think prompts are just "input text → output text." But the best prompt engineers treat it like a conversation. You need context, constraints, and iteration. The best prompts are designed, not written.
AI models are just lossy compression for the internet. Think about it. They scrape everything, crunch it down, and spit out a statistically probable next word, pixel, or decision. LLMs? Compressed human language. Diffusion models? Compressed visual data. The real question: What’s getting lost in compression?
AI is NOT "thinking." People get this twisted. LLMs don't "think" or "understand." They predict the next word based on patterns. But here’s the kicker: so do we. Your brain is just meat predicting what comes next based on past experience. So where’s the line between prediction and intelligence?
