Zama and the Future of Fully Homomorphic Encryption
Zama is a open source cryptography company founded by Dr Pascal Paillier and Dr Rand Hindi. It focuses on Fully Homomorphic Encryption, a form of computation that allows data to stay encrypted even while being processed. This innovation protects sensitive information such as financial or medical data while still enabling full use of it
Zama’s mission is to make this privacy technology available for both Web2 and Web3 systems. The company believes that confidentiality should be built into all digital processes from artificial intelligence to blockchain applications. Their tools make this complex field simple enough for developers to use without needing deep cryptographic knowledge
The team built its foundation on TFHE, a fast encryption scheme developed for efficient operations. Current systems already manage around twenty transactions per second and are being scaled toward one thousand by 2026
