I'm leaving Farcaster as a platform lens and looking forward to using the protocol (Snapchain) in my custom environment. And here's my confession. This will be the hard one and one might look at this cast as heavily biased. But I swear on everything I love: every single word is honest and should be taken straightforwardly as-is (to avoid misunderstandings and double meanings). Some takes might lack an actual argumentation, but keep in mind that this philosophy is not intended to make you switch sides. That's just how I feel (!!) it. --- The First Chapter: Farcaster has culturally drained itself --- Merkle left Farcaster and it's not a problem at all. We just continue with new builders-[artists also?]-aligned mission. That's what I wanted, that's what a lot of people wanted. To focus on the builder support, to focus on community. To be closer to the community, almost like a son and a mother relationship. Then, Jack left Clanker. Clanker is a heavy cultural asset imo (even tho we might not know how to unleash its full potential yet). And the fact that Clanker was left by his parents alone with Angela -> yeah that's kinda messed up but anyway. People move forward, things should die or be reborn. But this one already hits. All the time I was here (actually I will be here) -> I witnessed a lot of activity but of course no one has surpassed Clanker yet. Obviously, like yeah. But here's a double-edged sword. I'm not talking about the public acknowledgment. I'm talking about the cultural impact. And to consider this -> the idea was pretty fresh and kicky. Just launch a token from your cast while pumpfun is booming. What do I mean by that? I mean that the cultural impact was relatively weak. Our artists are far better than developers. Far more expressive. Our musicians might be better too. Take a minute, it's not like I'm assessing powers of ourselves and who's better or who's not. That's just what I am feeling. The lack of support was quickly recovered thanks to new Farcaster team efforts. And I'm really grateful for that. This makes me happier to see that people can get recognized. I dreamed of something that can increase recognition of all creators here (and not this creator tokens bs). I'm actually still thinking about it, and that's why I started 37 and all that ROCK stuff. You know it, because my casts aren't lying. I'm seeking for a way to get us together from different parts of the world. To bring more people on Farcaster. That being said, I don't think we will somehow achieve that with the current state of things. And the current cultural impact we do already have. It's just weak. Please note (this is really important for me) -> I'm not pointing fingers, hating, or saying that I know how to do better than others. We're all trying what we can do best. But sadly the growth is not achievable with what we have and I will be so glad to be proven wrong. Re: Why I'm even "shilling" my shi here -> not to say hey all, this is bs, let's go to my new haven. No. Just no. I say it to prove my words. That I actually care and give a shi about Farcaster and its fate and doing something too. And zooming out, it feels like the whole scene is losing its soul. Larpers left Farcaster on the bear market. Crypto is slowly dying. No new narratives. That's why I was talking all the time about something genuine. A collective effort could change the world for the better. Same with crypto. But extractive fckers don't want to do it apparently. Just wanna grift and extract. We can collaborate. And strive. And prosper. --- The Second Chapter: Grants --- Grants announcement is what made me write this. I'm not going to lie or pretend that it's not related to the grants decision. It is related. It has made a final impact to write this. Spoiler: it's not about money. Those who know me -> know me. I managed to earn some money within Farcaster and I was glad for the opportunities. I'm not pro-extraction or complaining about how I didn't receive a grant and it sucks. If you are still thinking about it -> I recommend you to stop reading further to not bother my spiritual space in this cast. Thank you. One of the defaults for grants was self-sustainability and it's understandable. I'm not going to judge the decision since it was announced that they would be human biased. CharmsAI even was praised by Base [app] lol. I will just say that I'm not feeling it and I will dare to say that no one will change something here. Please, don't take it harshly. Consider it as a bet between you and me. As a challenge. Time will tell anyway. As a little note though, I didn't see artists or culture-related communities represented in the list (e.g. Higher?). Even if that kind of impact is harder to measure, we can still support and collaborate with them to make Farcaster a better place (but this is my humble opinion, a side note). --- The Third Chapter: Pantheon --- My personal list of people who are culturally gifted / i fw with (randomly sorted): 1. kismet collective 2. lambchop 3. fffflood, phraggg and co with operating system 4. y8t and trupty 5. gandhi, bias, shoni and wake -> some real mfers (although i barely know y'all but i just feel it) 6. i fw with higher heavily (catra, anacarolina and folks). Respect. 7. virkkk, sadgirl, selenevisions, sinusoidalsnail and other artists. i love your art 8. I also really, really appreciate Mr. Bertwurst and horsefacts. Thank you for your energy. You played a huge role in believing in myself. 9. tricil, zoo, trish, clfx and greywash -> love u! 10. jpfraneto with Anky experiments 11. n with vibemarket -> this was huge 12. July and hyp for thoughtful casts (although i'm not seeing them frequently in my feed) 13. Garrett and basil with the skycastle experiment. 14. ace with constant, never ending apps -> your assertiveness is inspiring 15. slokh for anoncast and woj for supercast I appreciate notdevin for honesty. Thanks to drivenbyboredom for your photography. It's great. Quin with ghouls. Undefined and to for beeper and prev experiments. Myk has done great with new year gifts. Benna with Benoit are goated for lanparty. Swishh is a great guy and I also appreciate smokingfrog for beefing with me (that I'm a rugger and a scammer). I want to feel people here. It doesn't matter if u hate me or love me. Matt with tortoise is goated. Proxy w/ dish goated duo forever. Thank you. Thosmur and papi streams were great. You guys are amazing. Compusophy is an amazing experimenter and just an inventor who's always up to something. I also loved the goose experiment within Honkverse. This was great and cute. I appreciate early itsbasil rants. Tldr's bracky was goated culturally (almost Clanker-like impact) Bankr is great but sadly migrated to X. But i'm happy for deployer. You need to move to thrive. Stagnation is a slow death. --- Here's the Fourth Chapter: Conclusion --- We're not gonna make it if we will continue in the same direction. Sadly, that's all I have to say. I'm not a serial entrepreneur and I'm not heavily experienced in running projects. I'm young. And all I know is that I have a burning feeling and desire for art and to change something in this world in a positive way. All I know is that I know nothing. But imo, Solana is a great example of culture (I'm not highlighting a negative impact and decisions of people on the chain). I'm just talking about culture. It was fast. Fragile. People were speeding so fast that they didn't understand where they were going. But that's what made memories. Why? It reminds us of childlike behavior. We're adults with a locked child inside us, being a hostage. No other way around. A lack of risk and compulsive decisions. True life, a serene and unburdened life? Punk life. Who knows. We can take the best from all previous titans. And create something great. Something like a Renaissance. But who am I to predict. I can just try to take a glance on a foreseeable future, and God will position all the pieces on the board. Thanks for reading it if you made it to the end. Thank you.
