Benchmark closed commitments of $2B across two new funds, including a $750M early stage fund and a $1.25B later stage fund, breaking a more than 20-year pattern of keeping funds ~$425M or under, as per TechCrunch.
In my opinion, the manuscript of the story should not be "Benchmark forgot how to invest", as I am reading too often. It is rather that the market it helped define may now be too expensive for the old playbook.
