Italy won the 1934 and 1938 World Cups. Soon after, the Second World War began, and the World Cup was suspended. After a long gap of 12 years, the tournament resumed in 1950. From 10 June 1934, when Italy became world champions, until 16 July 1950, the date of the match that decided the 1950 World Cup title, Italy had the opportunity to hold the world champion status for 5,880 days over those 16 years.
Next comes Brazil, winners of the 1958 and 1962 World Cups. After winning the 1958 World Cup in Sweden on 29 June, Brazil went on to win the 1962 World Cup as well. That means from 29 June 1958, when Brazil became champions, until 30 July 1966, before the next World Cup title was decided, Brazil held the world champion title for 2,953 days—just over eight years.
