Omw to Basecamp!
Everyone is stoked about the onchain creator economy for good reason, creator coins are pumping! I’m going to basecamp to uncover substance behind this “META”.
First some context: Streamers are going viral, earning 5-6 figures of rewards, oftentimes in the first 48 hours of going live. Earnings are based on creator coin volume, so streamers are incentivized to do whatever it takes to stay at the top of the charts, and top of mind for traders.
I streamed with Farokh, founder of rug radio, interviewed Trump, obviously knowledge about the creator economy. I asked him about the seemingly perverse incentives. His reply: “they aren’t much better than memecoins.”
Creator coins are memecoins because there is no value accrual to tokenholders, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t valuable. Dogecoin alone has a $42B mcap and has survived for over a decade. Traders, market makers, and retail can make money building and gambling on this new asset class.
But, what about the creators?
