But the movie didn't explain why this would happen. I figured out this logic.
If you submerge your face in water for a long time, people come very close to death because they can't breathe.
When a person comes very close to death, nature shows them the face of their most beloved person for the last time.
Maybe seeing that face will ease the pain of death a little."
