eh maybe but I also feel like people are blown away by cheap gas on "Ethereum". Polygon has existed for a while and is EVM compatible but Ethereum L2s feel different than side chains

Very different. Ethereum L2s use ETH as the fee token, so transacting on L2s supports and builds upon Ethereum

agree. USDC on Polygon is great. Coinbase still invests in that -- just launched gasless USDC sends on Polygon not that long ago. 

NFTs on Polygon not that great, lots of spammy airdrops and general junk that ends up in wallets

It’s a hype train. Polygon PoS was great for daily transactions.
