Sumatra is in crisis. Severe flash floods and landslides have struck Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra, leaving devastation across the region. In remote mountain areas of Aceh, three regencies remain completely cut off — they have received no aid, no supplies, and no medical assistance.
Thousands of people are struggling with hunger, contaminated water, exposure to the elements, and illness without access to basic medicine.
The situation is urgent. People are starving. Children, the elderly, and the sick are at extreme risk. We are calling for immediate humanitarian attention and international support. It feels as though our government has turned its back on Sumatra — and so we are appealing to the compassion of the global community.
We urgently need:
emergency food supplies
clean water
medical aid and medicine
rescue and evacuation teams
logistics support to reach isolated mountainous areas
To every organization, government, humanitarian group, and compassionate individual around the world
