The old saying “opposite poles attract, like poles repel” has become the standard for any good relationship — romantic or platonic.
I’m the type who’d rather stay indoors all day watching movies. That’s the exact antithesis of how my girlfriend wants to spend time: go out, make memories, be active. And my best friend of 8 years? He’s the antithesis of both of us — he won’t move an inch from his bed unless the house is on fire.
That contrast is what makes it fun. Being on opposite ends forces us out of our normal routines. If we were all the same, life would get boring fast. You’d never get pushed to try new things, and you’d miss the lessons that only come from seeing the world through someone else’s lens.
So here’s to the antithesis — the differences that keep our relationships interesting, alive, and worth it.
