I don’t like to brag, but a lot of people will tell you I have an altruistic streak. Sometimes people take it for granted, and that’s when I hear things like, “I have a boyfriend,” or, “I didn’t ask for your help.” It usually comes back to bite them later. I remember one time I saw a girl crying. I almost kept walking, but something stopped me. I asked what was wrong, got to the root of it, and helped her sort it out. I had a lot going on that day, but I still stopped for someone who was stuck — without thinking about myself. After that, I’d greet her whenever I saw her. Her response? “I’m in a relationship.” I never wanted anything from her. I helped because she was in a pinch and I genuinely cared. Did it hurt? Yes. Do I regret it? No. Would I do it again? Yes. Why? Because I’m just wired that way. I care, and I’m a nice guy.
