In deference to majority opinion on the ‘Solo Levelling’ debate, I’m still standing firm: the anime is mid.
I’ve watched a ton of anime and read even more manga. I’m pretty well-versed in the space, and trust me — a lot of true anime fans will agree with this take.
Don’t get me wrong, the anime is good. I’m not going to lie — the animation, art style, coloring, and CGI were all crafted with basically the entirety of Studio A-1 Pictures’ budget, and they made it back. But great visuals alone don’t make a top-tier anime.
If we’re being brief: Solo Levelling is about a weakling who becomes OP through a game system, waits until the last second, and then aura-farms his way into savior mode. Yes, the aura farming is part of the problem. We’ve had characters do way more with less than our brother Sung Jinwoo.
With those few points made, I hope I got my message across. If you’ve got more arguments, I’m all ears and happy to hear them.
