I’ve had both good and bad viva exams, and I know how much it means to have a stories to share on the path to becoming a doctor.
Today was one of the good ones, thanks largely to the vicarious effort of my friends and roommate. Before 11am, they walked me through the management of a diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA) emergency, explaining every step in detail.
When I finally got into the hall after waiting nearly an hour, the exact case we’d discussed came up. Because they’d taken the time to break it down for me, I was able to lay it out clearly for the examiner and earn solid marks.
I’m genuinely grateful for that. Without their help, this wouldn’t be a story I’d be telling.
